Timpanogos Academy Charter

Our Charter

Our school charter is the foundation that guides how Timp Academy operates and serves our students. It is a legally binding agreement that outlines our mission, educational goals, governance, and standards for success.

Our charter establishes the expectations for our academic program, school operations, and student outcomes, while providing a framework for how we measure and support student achievement. We invite families to review our charter to learn more about the commitments and goals that guide Timp Academy.

Our Charter Summary

    Understanding Our Charter:

Our charter describes the educational philosophy, goals, and practices that guide Timpanogos Academy. It explains our commitment to strong academics, a knowledge-rich curriculum, character development, family involvement, student achievement, and a supportive school community.

These accordion sections provide a simple overview of the key ideas in our charter so families can understand what guides our school without having to read the complete documents.

    Our Mission & Educational Philosophy

Timpanogos Academy is committed to providing a rigorous, well-rounded education in a supportive environment where students develop a love of learning and the skills they need to become lifelong learners. We focus on academic achievement while also developing character, responsibility, creativity, leadership, and good citizenship.

    Our Curriculum

Our curriculum is designed to give students a strong foundation of knowledge across all subject areas. We use a knowledge-rich approach that builds from year to year so students continually expand what they know and understand.

Students receive instruction in mathematics, language arts, science, history, social studies, art, music, physical education, technology, and other areas.

    Core Knowledge

Core Knowledge is an important part of our educational philosophy. It provides students with a carefully organized sequence of knowledge that builds from grade to grade.

Our goal is for students to develop a broad understanding of the world around them while strengthening their reading, writing, critical-thinking, and communication skills.

    Saxon Math

Timpanogos Academy uses Saxon Math as part of its mathematics program. Saxon Math introduces concepts in manageable steps and continually reviews previously learned skills.

This approach gives students repeated opportunities to practice, strengthen foundational skills, and apply what they have learned to new problems

    Language Arts & Reading

Our language arts program emphasizes strong foundational reading and writing skills. Students develop phonemic awareness, phonics, reading comprehension, vocabulary, writing, research, discussion, and critical-thinking skills.

The charter identifies systematic language arts and reading instruction as an important part of helping students become confident and capable readers and writers.

    Small Classes & Individual Attention

Our school model emphasizes providing students with individual attention. The charter describes small class sizes as an important part of creating an environment where teachers can work closely with students and respond to their individual needs.

    Parent Involvement

Families are an important part of the Timpanogos Academy community. Parents are encouraged to participate in their children's education, communicate with teachers, volunteer, and contribute to the school community.

Volunteer opportunities may include classroom activities, field trips, tutoring, the library, technology, special projects, and other school activities.

    Student Expectations

We believe that learning takes place best in an environment built on respect, responsibility, and self-discipline.

Students are expected to treat others respectfully, use appropriate behavior, take care of school property, and respect school staff. We also encourage students to develop leadership skills, confidence, responsibility, compassion, and respect for others.

    Attendance & Learning

Regular attendance is an important part of student success. Our charter emphasizes consistent attendance, making up missed work, communicating with families about absences, and helping students remain engaged in their learning

    Assessment & Student Progress

We use assessment to understand how students are learning and where they may need additional support. Student progress is measured through classroom assessments and required state assessments.

When a student needs additional academic assistance, the school uses assessment information to identify concerns and develop appropriate support.

    Character & Citizenship

Education at Timpanogos Academy extends beyond academics. We want students to become responsible, respectful, and contributing members of their communities.

Our educational goals include developing leadership, teamwork, self-confidence, responsibility, respect for others, and preparation for responsible citizenship.

    School Governance & Teachers/Staff

Timpanogos Academy is guided by a governing board and school administration. The board provides oversight and helps establish policies and long-term direction, while school administration is responsible for the day-to-day operation of the school.

The governance structure also provides opportunities for parent and community involvement.

Our teachers and staff play an important role in creating a strong academic environment. The charter emphasizes qualified educators, ongoing professional development, curriculum planning, collaboration, and regular evaluation of instructional programs.

    Student Safety & Well-Being

Student safety and well-being are an important part of our school responsibilities. The charter includes procedures addressing health, emergencies, student supervision, discipline, and the safe release of students to parents or guardians.

    Financial Accountability

Timpanogos Academy maintains financial procedures designed to provide responsible oversight of school funds. The charter addresses budgeting, purchasing, accounting, audits, financial reporting, and compliance with applicable requirements.
